Just because AI can do it, doesn't mean it should

Written by Recruithero | 23 September 2026

AI is quickly becoming part of every conversation in recruitment tech. The pressure to adopt it is real - and no one wants to be left behind. But the agencies that stand out won't necessarily be the ones with the most AI. They'll be the ones offering the most seamless experience for their contractors.

For contractors, friction is rarely the result of a single problem. It's the accumulation of small frustrations: entering the same information twice, navigating multiple systems, chasing timesheet approvals, or not knowing what happens next.

For agencies, those same issues often mean manual data entry, chasing contractors and clients, correcting avoidable errors and spending time managing processes that should run smoothly. Now while the temptation can be to just reach for AI, sometimes better integration is enough. Sometimes the process itself needs to change. And when it's the difference between getting a contractor's pay right or wrong, accuracy matters more than making the process agentic.

Does this mean AI isn't helpful? No, AI is great for many tasks, it can make sense of unstructured information, extract details from documents and reduce repetitive tasks.

Great AI implementation is about being deliberate; choosing where AI adds value to the contractor experience and your business.

At Recruithero, that's how we approach technology. Our focus is removing friction from the contractor experience. AI is playing an important role in that future, but our measure of success isn't how much AI we've adopted.

It's whether we've made contracting genuinely easier. Because as the AI race accelerates, the companies that stand out won't be those that simply adopt it fastest. They'll be the ones that use it - and every other tool available - to deliver the most seamless experience.
